The Social Justice Advocacy Initiative (SJAI) is an independent, non-governmental organization committed to promoting and protecting human rights in Nigeria through research, advocacy, education, and policy engagement.

Founded on a feminist-informed framework, SJAI operates at the intersection of human rights scholarship and institutional advocacy. We produce evidence-based research, engage policy actors, and build the capacity of individuals and institutions to advance justice, equality, and accountable governance.

SJAI occupies a distinctive position in Nigeria's civil society landscape — functioning simultaneously as a research institution, an advocacy organization, and an educational platform. Our work is guided by the principle that sustainable social change emerges from structured knowledge, institutional engagement, and community empowerment.

Our interdisciplinary approach draws from law, political science, gender studies, and human rights scholarship to produce nuanced analyses and actionable policy recommendations. We collaborate with government institutions, international organizations, civil society networks, and academic partners to amplify the reach and impact of our work.
